Illustrations for the second volume of the textbook containing the gastropulmonary and urogenital system and the system of endocrine glands were created at the Institute of Anatomy of the First Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. Over 270 color illustrations created with artistic certainty by academic painter Milan Med, whose knowledge of anatomy is evident from every painting. Many of them were driven not only by depicting facts, but by a semi-scheme and graphical representation of the function to enable a quick understanding of functional relationships. From this point of view the artist became a co-author who contributed to the didactic conception of the textbook by his own designs.

The book is part of a three-part didactic unit, which has not been surpassed in its professional level in the Czech Republic and which has been requested by both faculties and clinical workplaces for many years. The book was  appreciated not only by the professional public, but mainly by medical students themselves, and was issued in three editions.

First editions - Avicenum in 1988, second and third revised editions - GRADA in 2002 and 2013.
